3D World Tennis? That sounds a bit like.. Hmm.. 3D World Boxing, doesn’t it? It comes from the same team, Simulmondo, and seems to be released at about the same time in 1992.

3D World Boxing is a boxing game by Simulmondo, apparently an Italian game creator. The game was released in 1995 1992 (I believe now).
It looks rather pretty with shiny EGA VGA (thanks Nameless One) graphics and beautiful sprites. Inbetween matches there are cutscenes of a reporter discussing the fight or your trainer talking to you. It looks pretty but there’s no real point to it. There is also some MIDI music in the background which actually is rather annoying. No further sounds than that though. There’s also no 3D going on, except there’s a bit of depth to the boxing ring perhaps. I suppose it was the time when 3D had that nice ring to it. (more…)
3D Pitfall is a 1995 game by J. Shramko. I heard about the Atari game “Pitfall” before, so before starting I wondered if I’d get some sort of fiendishly difficult 3D platformer here.
Well, my hopes were rather quickly smashed. This game is not quite related to Pitfall. It’s a 3D Tetris game. I’ve played a fair bit of Blockout (also to be reviewed on the site, around number 100 in the queue) and this looks very, very alike. I think it has a higher resolution, but this actually does not help the game as the rotation animations aren’t nearly as smooth as I remember them from Blockout. Also, it’s made 5 years later. 3D Helicopter Simulator is a game released in 1987 by Sierra. Whoah, Sierra, the Space Quest guys. Well, and a lot more, and also a helicopter simulator game I know now.
I’m trying to find my way around WordPress. Test, test, one two three. I hope to add my first review here in a few hours time. Something will probably go wrong anyway so that it won’t actually work out, but hey, can’t blame me for trying.
